Patricia Abbate Management Patti Abbate has been actively involved in public relations and marketing communications for more than 20 years. Patti works with small and growing businesses to help leverage their success via public relations, marketing communications and creative business strategies. An accomplished writer and public speaker, Patti has presented many seminars on the subjects of direct marketing, public relations and marketing communications, and has been a contributing author of several marketing and other business textbooks. She currently creates and executes high-level public relations and marketing communications campaigns for her clients, and is also leveraging their achievement with books, booklets and audio CDs through her subsidiary company, Wonder Works Publishing. Before opening her Sunrise Public Relations in 2001, she was vice president of a full-service public relations and marketing communications firm in Needham, Mass. During her tenure at the agency, Patti managed many high-profile accounts and achieved top-tier media placements for her clients within a variety of media including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Forbes, Fortune, CNN, BusinessWeek, Newsweek, USA Today, Investors Business Daily, Red Herring, The Industry Standard, Dow Jones Energy Service and many other targeted media. She also ghost wrote articles for her clients and achieved placement within selected media including The Boston Business Journal, Mass High Tech, Banker & Tradesman, The Journal of Business Strategy, The Corporate Board and The Daily Deal. Before assuming her position at Gumpert Communications, Patti directed all public relations and fund-raising activities for the largest international adoption agency in the Northeast for six years. Here she revised all agency marketing materials, managed a capital and annual fund campaign, ran successful fundraisers (auctions, dinners, golf tournaments), produced a monthly newsletter, developed an agency web site, was primary marketing liaison with the Board and secured many media placements. She also traveled to Korea to escort babies to their adoptive families in the United States. Patti also held the position of public relations director for an international travel organization for 11 years. There she traveled extensively, presenting seminars on various marketing topics to groups of travel and tourism professionals. She also produced a monthly newsletter (circulation 30,000), co-authored, edited and published several marketing text books, produced several sales and marketing courses on VHS, and was an executive editor for a major travel industry magazine. Patti also held the position of public relations/marketing instructor at a Masschusetts college and was a reporter for two suburban Boston newspapers. She also co-founded and managed a successful retail business and a professional antiques auction company for many years. Patti is active in philanthropic, business development and artistic endeavors. She is a past president of the Norwood Art Association, a founder and past officer of The Country Traders Guild of Wrentham, held several leadership positions and remains active in Toastmasters International where she is President of BostonWest Toastmasters and the New England Speakers Association, serves on the leadership team of a local chapter of Business Networking International, is a member of New England Women Business Owners (NEWBO), the Publicity Club of Boston and the New England Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. She most recently served as a co-chair for the auction committee of the Boys & Girls Club of Newton, which raised more than $160,000 for the Club, where she is also a Board Member. She also volunteers her time throughout the year with other fund-raising events, including the annual "Hacks for Zack" golf tournament/auction/dinner event that raises funds for Duschenes Muscular Dystrophy. ____________________________________________________________ Patti is currently working with a variety of clients.
